About FHS
The first industrial activities on the site of the Hoykenkamp works started in 1914. Then, in the 1930's, Focke, Achgelis und Co. GmbH built the first fully operable helicopter of type FW 61 on today's industrial site, before its production was moved to south Germany.
The Hoykenkamp helicopter factory buildings were taken over by Weserflug GmbH in 1944. Various small companies used the site in the 1950's until it was taken over again by Weserflug, which merged with Focke-Wulf in Bremen at the beginning of the 1960's. This resulted in VFW-Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke.
All non-flight technical activities were concentrated in Hoykenkamp.
The product range covered not only electrical and oil hydraulic lifting and working equipment, but also pioneer bridges, shipbuilding equipment and pontoon structures.
Between 1963 and 1974, innovative caravans with self-supporting chassis were made in the Hoykenkamp factory.
Production of work platforms, lifting tables and automatic lifting platforms as well as stacking equipment began in 1967. The company was re-named VFW Fokker in 1968.
In 1974, Fokker merged with MBB. MBB took over the company in 1983. Special technology became the core of today's FHS Förder- und Hebesysteme, starting in 1985 with innovative developments for the German armed forces. FHS Förder– und Hebesysteme GmbH was founded in 1988 as a subsidiary of what was then Deutsche Aerospace AG (DASA).
