The Type 210 is currently the latest development in FHS’s on-board helicopter transport systems. Though based on the experience of the Type 110, and also serving the same safe, automated movement of the helicopter on a landing deck, the Type 210 is a completely new development in the transverse process of the helicopter.
With the experience gained through the Type 110, and on the basis of changing requirements, FHS has succeeded in developing a traversing system which has higher availability with lower maintenance costs.
This was achieved by, among other things, combining and simplifying system components to fit the new functional principle. During development, priority was given to the self-propelled “manipulators”, as well as the storage system for the lines. Arranging the manipulators in parallel can be done to accommodate the bulbs for landing lighting; and, on request, FHS can realize this functional extension of the Type 210 manipulators. This new system is protected by a patent and all electronic components are state-of-the-art.
During development, it was important to use as many standard components as possible, resulting in a reduction of the cost of spare parts, as well as shorter delivery times, because of the availability of the components.
The Type 210 on-board helicopter unit is particularly suitable for ships with a multi-hangar system, where the helicopter, or helicopters, can proceed without further overhead through the two manipulators in a transverse direction to the ship. Of course, the system is also fully usable with a one-hangar system.
